Selling Downloadable Products on the Internet
Imagine a product that requires no inventory, does not occupy any physical space, and can be sold and delivered automatically at any time. In an ideal sense, that's what digital products are. To sell digital products online, you need a secure way of delivering the product. You could provide a payment form or shopping cart with a link to the downloadable product file, but anybody could link to your files and download them. The solution is an automated, secure system that protects your product files against unauthorized downloads and only allows access to the products after payment has been processed.

Protects Downloadable Products 3-Ways:

Product File Renaming
Digital product files are renamed and saved in a protected directory that can only be accessed within the server by the AShop program. The original product file name is stored in the database. When delivery of the product file is authorized, AShop displays the original product file name and allows downloading of the product file(s).

Password Protection
After payment has been processed, a random password is automatically generated and e-mailed to the customer along with a link to the download login page. If the download fails, the customer can login again as long as the password is still current. The password will expire in a number of days, which is set by the administrator.

IP Address
The destination IP address for each download is recorded and sent to the store administrator. This would server as a warning to the administrator if someone were to make a purchase, then share their e-mail address and password. It can also be used to identify and trace unauthorized downloads.
