Many digital products require updating from time to time. A typical example of this is with software, where free program updates may be provided for a period of time following the initial purchase. AShop includes an update feature to send notices, links and passwords for digital product updates.
For each digital product on the Edit Catalog page there is a button labeled Send update. Click that button to see a form where you can browse your computer and upload an update file, choose how many months ago the customer should have bought the product to get the update, choose how many days the download will be available and add the subject and message text for the email notice that will be sent to customers who have purchased this product.
When the form is submitted the file is uploaded to the ashop/updates directory. The message text along with a password and link to download the update file is sent to each customer who has purchased the related product within the specified period of time. Each time a customer downloads an update file, a notice including the customer name and IP address is emailed to the shop administrator.
