The file type is simply determined by using the filename suffix of an uploaded file, for instance: ".gif". On a Mac this naming convention is not necessary which means that many Mac users will probably upload files without a "." in the file name and the file type won't be displayed. The only solution to this problem is to rename the product file to include a "." and a file type suffix before it is uploaded.
